Are you ready to make a difference in the journey towards Net Zero? We are seeking a passionate and forward-thinking Sustainability Specialist (Carbon) to join our dynamic team at National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET).
In this pivotal role, you will be a trusted advocate for carbon management engineering, playing a crucial part in achieving our net-zero commitments. Collaborating with our project and regulation teams, you will contribute to project assessments, ensuring we adhere to our commitment of reducing carbon emissions from our supply chain while securing funding from our regulator, Ofgem.
As a leader in NGET construction supply chain solutions, you will drive innovation around carbon management, enhancing the carbon performance of our construction projects. Your influence will extend to contractors, ensuring compliance with our strategy, policies, and procedures, while promoting best practices in carbon management across all sites. You will coach and inspire Investment and Delivery Engineers, empowering them to confidently challenge contractors on their carbon performance.
Your expertise will be vital in evaluating contracts and tenders that prioritise sustainability, and you will be responsible for assessing ongoing outcomes. Building and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, as well as regulators and certifiers, will be key to addressing all issues related to carbon management.
By considering stakeholder views, you will foster mutual understanding and drive continual improvement in how NGET manages carbon. You will also support behavioural change programmes, demonstrating exemplary sustainability practices.
This role offers a flexible hybrid working approach, combining office and home working, along with visits to project sites. You will need to travel to our office in Warwick once a week.
A competitive salary between £48,300 – £60,000 – dependent on capability
