National Grid Interconnectors is at the heart of UK’s transition to our net zero energy future. We operate a number of HVDC Interconnectors that connect the UK’s energy system to some of our closest neighbours, allowing energy to be imported to and exported from the UK.


As well as already owning a portfolio of HVDC Interconnectors, we’re working on developing new projects to ensure that we are able to meet the UK’s future demands for greener energy solutions.


We are currently recruiting for a Senior Commercial and Contract Manager to support our NSL (North Sea Link) site near Newcastle.

 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape the commercial contracting strategy for the NSL interconnector. You’ll be advising various teams on best practice in Contract Management. You will also be supporting the development of our contract management maturity as we look to improve how we manage our supply chain across our portfolio, this will involve working on a wide range of inter-team and business improvement projects as part of your day-to-day role.

 

This role comes with direct line management of a Senior Contract Support Analyst, as well as wider leadership responsibilities for the Contract Management Team.

This role can be based at our office in Warwick or on site near Newcastle. The role is Hybrid and you can split your time between site and home. There will be travel to site required within the role so you must have a full UK driving licence for this role.

What you'll do

 

  • Lead a team of Contract and Commercial Managers/Analysts to deliver the Pre and Post Contract Management requirements for the North Sea Link Interonnector. This includes the drafting of new contracts and the management of in-life contracts.
  • Own the business process for the creation and management of budgets, cost control and financial governance
  • Ensure contract compliance and lead in providing quality assurance of contract performance.
  • Lead in providing independent reviews and advice on complex variations and compensation events and support the process of escalation and dispute avoidance/resolution
  • Drive the development of reporting that helps to inform business decision making.
  • Provide support and data to various teams for any Board and/or regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Provide challenge and review of cost performance in identified strategic projects prior to contract award.

What you'll need

 

  • Experience of leading others working in contract management in a construction and/or operational environment, including warranty management is preferred as are commercial acumen and supply chain management skills.
  • You will ideally have experience of cost analysis, programme evaluation, monitoring cost performance, as well as analysing and negotiating complex compensation events and variations.
  • You will have the ability to prepare reports and collate information as well as presenting this in a concise manner for a range of stakeholders including senior leadership.

A competitive salary between £65,000 –  £75,000 per annum dependent on capability.
