The Land and Property Management Officer to join our ET Property Team! This role is responsible for leading the day-to-day management of Land and Property, as well as overseeing key contractors and suppliers at substation sites and non-operational land. They ensure that substations are maintained, managed, and improved to achieve compliance with statutory legislative requirements while meeting the needs of the organisation and its employees. Additionally, they manage day-to-day relationships with stakeholders at substation sites.

This individual leads the response to enquiries from substation stakeholders in the South East and London regions by liaising with National Grid suppliers, challenging quotations, and driving progress on various issues. They report to the Land and Property Manager, keeping them updated on key issues and developments.

This role will require some travel to National Grid offices and operational sites and occasionally staying away from home. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

What You'll Do

• Responsible for ensuring all buildings on the operational estate within the South East and London region are maintained to be fully compliant with legislative requirements as well as meeting the needs of the organisation.
• Management of non-operational land within the South East and London region to ensure all relevant risks are identified and reasonable risk mitigation measures are implemented.
• Assist Land and Property Manager to manage external supply chain in compliance with contract conditions and standards of service, ensuring contractual obligations are delivered.
• Lead on the production and presentation of compliance and management reports to key stakeholders, including Heads of Regions and their operational teams, plus groups of senior substation engineers. 
• Provide technical and building operational support to the ET customers by undertaking site visits, identifying issues and raising helpdesk jobs to rectify problems. 
• Monitor spend trends across South East and London region by challenging quotations, ensuring scope of works are correct and expenditure is allocated to correct cost centres. 
• Pro-actively manage, develop and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Keep in regular contact with key customers and provide them with regular updates in the resolution of issues.
• Conduct site visits to operational and non-operational sites within South East and London region. Proactively identify and undertake second line SHE assurance on the activities carried out by supply chain contractors. Support other SHE activity and initiatives initiated by Land and Property Manager.

What You'll Have

• Educated to HNC or above.
• A qualification in health & safety (NEBOSH, IOSH) would be advantageous management experience of operations and maintenance in facilities or land.
• Management experience of operations and maintenance in facilities or property services.
• A basic understanding of UK Health & Safety laws and statutory regulations relating to buildings management.
• General knowledge of lease and tenant management desirable.
• Understanding of the wider National Grid business and the ability to develop and influence a key network of influential stakeholders.
• Good stakeholder management skills
• NEBOSH/ IOSH – or willing to be trained
• Must hold a full clean UK driver's license.
• Willingness to travel across the South East and London regions and other work venues as the business needs require
• Experience of working with contractors with demonstrable experience of managing outsourced arrangements and improving contractor performance.
• Highly customer focused with proven communication skills at different levels with both internal and external contacts.
