What You’ll Do: 

  • Perform inventory control, including issuing, receiving, distributing, and disposing of inventory.
  • Handle, package, label, and ship materials, including dangerous goods, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate transportation of goods and personnel to Long-Range Radar (LRR) and Short-Range Radar (SRR) sites.
  • Collaborate with colleagues at LRR sites and Logistics Support Systems (LSS) staff at the main site, along with the NWS Command Centre and NWS Support Centre in North Bay, ON, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Travel between adjacent radar sites to perform logistical support activities.
  • Operate material handling equipment, load and unload goods, and maintain organized warehouse environments.
  • Follow safety standards and contribute to maintaining a safe and respectful working environment.

 

Who You Are: 

Credentials: 

  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Certification in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods by air/road/sea.

Experience: 

  • High-volume inventory control, shipping/receiving, or computerized warehouse operations experience.
  • Handling Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) and familiarity with inventory control software.
  • Knowledge of customs control processes is an asset.
  • Experience working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources is an asset.

Skills: 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and inventory systems like Maximo.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in demanding weather conditions and lift objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Team-Oriented: Comfortable working in a close-knit, unionized environment and motivated to contribute to a mission that goes beyond standard operations.
  • Ability to work effectively in remote northern conditions and live in remote camp environments
  • Ability to commit to working rotational shifts on a consistent basis.

ROTATION & OVERTIME: 6 weeks in/6 weeks out rotation (48-hour workweeks) with overtime at 1.5x your base rate. Paid travel days (up to 2 days) with all travel costs covered.

VACATION PAY: 6% for employees under five years and 8% for those with over five years of tenure
NORTHERN LIVING ALLOWANCE: Additional biweekly allowance for employees residing in designated northern communities: Inuvik, Cambridge Bay, Sanirajak, and Iqaluit.
