NIE invites suitable applications for the position of Manager, Dean’s Office with the Office for Research (OfR). The Dean's Office plays an integral role in the strategic communications and engagement efforts of OfR, effectively conveying its strategic positioning and policies to MOE, NIE, and other stakeholders. The team works synergistically with other programme offices at NIE to ensure that research excellence and insights inform institutional and national education agendas. This is a 2-year contract position, or up till 31 Mar 2028, whichever comes first.
Responsibilities
Secretarial support for OfR management and other strategic meetings.
Support Dean, Research and OfR management on strategic research matters including reporting, planning and monitoring.
Oversight of OfR milestones, workplans and deliverables.
Organise and coordinate Programme Office Meetings and OfR events including strategic retreats, townhalls and outreach to Academic Departments.
Synthesise ideas and information into clear, accurate and persuasive prose and adapt content for different purposes and communication channels.
Review and draft position papers and management reports to NIE, NTU, MOE and management meetings.
Assist in designing and executing integrated communications plans that broaden awareness of OfR’s strategic positioning, policies and research excellence across key stakeholder audiences especially MOE.
Review and prepare materials for OfR management for key strategic meetings.
Work collaboratively and closely with key management and administrative colleagues to collect and analyse information about research in order to develop effective content to inform strategy and research development.
Manage and consolidate the annual reporting of NIE’s Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to MOE and NIE.
Manage information requests from internal and external organisations.
Support in global research engagement initiatives and meetings.
Arrange meetings for collaborative visits and coordinating research agreements.
Other duties and administrative functions as assigned by the Reporting Officer.
Requirements
A University Degree in English, Communications, Journalism or related field preferred.
5 years of strategic communications and engagement experience preferably in an Institute of Higher Learning.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills.
Strong writing, editing skills and ability to adapt writing styles to suit various authors and audiences.
Highly motivated, independent and a strong team player.
Meticulous with good analytical skills.
Able to solve problems and work within tight deadlines.
Adaptive to changing needs and environment.
Integrity and discretion when handling confidential information.
Proficient in MS Word and Excel and PowerPoint.
