The purpose of this position is to augment both technical and nursing staff in and around imaging procedures. These duties will be under direct oversight by technical and nursing personnel. The responsibility is to assist with patient care as it relates to Imaging exam turn- around time, patient safety, patient experience and department workflow. Duties include: Transporting Inpatients and ER patients to and from department, safely getting patients on and off imaging equipment, assisting with Outpatient exam workflos (assisting patients to and from the OP waiting room, directing patients to changing rooms for exam, assisting with portable imaging studies, dispensing oral contrast) and other support duties as needed.
(50%) Transport patient to imaging from ER and all Inpatient units, assist in safely transferring patient on and off imaging tables. Assist Imaging staff with portable imaging studies
(25%) Stage patients for imaging procedures: Greet patients; if necessary, have patient change into hospital gown, assist patients to and from imaging rooms, dispensing oral contrast if needed, setting up rooms for procedure, providing all patient care duties within the scope of practice designated to a Care Assistant.
(25%)*Works as dispatcher and prioritizes runs based on patient needs. Utilizes good communication skills. Utilizes all relevant Epic applications

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
One year of experience in a clinical setting preferred.
Excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure and time management skills required.
Previous patient care experience preferred.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description.
Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s).
Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching.
Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.
Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
Physical Demand Level: Medium. Must be able to occasionally (0-33% of the workday) lift or carry 21-50 lbs., frequently 34-66% of the workday 20 lbs. and or Walk/Stand/Push/Pull of Arm/Leg controls and constantly (67-100% or the workday) 10 lbs.
