
(30%) Obtains quality diagnostic radiographs utilizing x-ray equipment and accessories. Adjusts technical factors to provide appropriate exposure by use of independent judgment, knowledge of human anatomy, effect of disease on the radiograph and the principles of radiation as well as the specific operation of all radiologic equipment within the department
(30%) Transport patient into exam room; assist patient & position appropriately for exam; determine if allergic to anything; inject appropriate IV contrast; perform scan with attention to appropriate positioning; be alert for need of additional or thinner slices/images.
(20%) Maintains safe, sanitary conditions for patients. Cleans exam room between patients. Provides appropriate radiation protection for patient and staff during radiation exposures according to prescribed safety standards.
(20%) Draw up IV contrast if needed; administer oral contrast if indicated; perform warm-up procedure on equipment; enter patient data and appropriate scan parameters; review patient data to assure proper exam; review previous exams.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs special procedures, such as arteriogram, venogram, etc.
Utilizes appropriate protective lead garments when appropriate.
Performs excellent patient care procedures and techniques to comply with MyMichigan Health mission and values.
Is responsible for the observance of radiation safety practices.

Assure proper marking with regard to orientation of patient; enter images with keypad with attention to order of image.
Assures that all clinical information is complete; assures that film record is in correct order; provide additional information as required.
Ability to recognize and report malfunction of radiographic equipment appropriately.
Demonstrates competency in Infection Prevention and Control Practices and Policies.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND SKILLS:
Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
Mandatory tuberculosis (TB) testing must be done as required.
Mandatory Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training must also be completed annually according to the Exposure Control Plan.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death.
Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position.
