Clerk Grade: 9/10

Annual Salary Range: $129,464 - $142,665 plus superannuation

Employment Type: Temporary (until 30 September 2026), Full-time

Location: Hybrid flexible working arrangements are supported with office presence based at the Department’s Haymarket location

 

About the team

Senior Media Advisors are required to support media management across agencies within DCS. This role has a focus on Digital NSW and Service NSW.

The successful candidate will have proven media and reputational management capabilities and experience dealing effectively with a high volume of media requests and competing deadlines.

The role requires capacity to be on-call during the week and weekends on a rotational basis and potential to act for the media manager as required.

Your day-to-day

  • Leading media and reputation management for Digital NSW and Service NSW.
  • Liaising with Ministerial Offices to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Managing media enquiries and deadlines.
  • Identifying, developing and delivering proactive milestones to showcase the Department’s programs and services
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for senior executive leaders.

To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:

Required skills:

  •  Exceptional understanding of media landscape
  •  Exceptional stakeholder management capabilities.
  •  Proven ability to manage competing deadlines.
  •  Ability to understand complex datasets and legislation.
  •  Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

 Desired skills:

  •  Understanding of digital landscape and a keen interest in digital programs.
  •  Understanding of frontline services.
  •  Recent newsroom experience.
  •  Previous government experience preferred.
