SafeWork NSW has just transformed to become a modern, strong, and independent Work Health and Safety Regulator.

The Investigations and Enforcement Directorate is responsible for providing frontline advisory, triage and response functions, including leading and or contributing to 1st response activities for critical WHS incidents. The Directorate also leads the investigation of WHS matters, management of the High-Risk Workplace and Repeat Offender Program and manages and coordinates SafeWork’s Enforceable Undertakings function. Broadly the Directorate also leads and or contributes to building and maintaining critical partnerships and relationships with other regulators, communicates WHS regulatory outcomes and lessons learnt to industry and the community.

 

Ideal candidate

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented professional who demonstrates resilience and commitment. The ideal candidate will excel in fast-paced environments, confidently manage complex projects, cultivate strong stakeholder relationships, and apply sound judgment to resolve challenging regulatory issues.

You would provide support to the Investigations and Enforcement Directorate across a broad range of interesting and diverse tasks that enable improved service delivery and support regulatory initiatives. You will have the opportunity to work with and learn from all team members as we work together on projects.

About the role:

As a Project Officer, you will play a key role in managing and supporting projects that align with SafeWork NSW strategic objectives.

You will:

  • Coordinate and implement a range of projects using sound project management principles
  • Provide project support services to ensure initiatives are delivered on time, on budget and to quality standards
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to achieve project outcomes
  • Prepare reports, maintain documents and contribute to informed decision making through research and analysis.

 About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong project management expertise, including planning, coordination and delivery of complex initiatives
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues, assess risks and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex matters and influence stakeholders
  • Creativity with a good eye for detail and the ability to develop and edit content and visuals for a variety of communications channels and purposes, including web copy, presentations, social posts, and more
  • Experience managing resources, budgets and contracts
  • Demonstrated experience using project management tools, such as Power BI
  • Demonstrated experience in researching, preparing briefing notes, presentations, business cases and reports with highly developed writing skills.
  • Experience in monitoring and analysing data to identify emerging trends and potential risks, maintain and update the risk register and provide insights that inform strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Extensive experience in effectively balancing and managing multiple priorities within tight timeframes
  • Experience in managing accurate records and databases, complying with administrative systems, processes and policies, to ensure that all information is accurate, stored correctly and accessible
  • Your expertise in providing high-level operational support, including assisting with the review and quality assurance of complex briefs of evidence to ensure accuracy and compliance
