About this role

Your Purpose

The Housekeeping Manager is overall responsible for the daily operations of the Housekeeping Department, ensuring that all Housekeeping Team carries out their assignments and provides the highest standard of service, cleanliness, disinfection and service to Guests in all accommodation, public and crew areas.

Your Impact

• Ensure that daily operations of the Housekeeping Department are carried out efficiently and in compliance with the Company Safety, Security and Public Health requirements.

• Responsible for the smooth operation of the ship Laundry and linen room operation.

• Implement and maintain the Standard Procedures, ensure they are respected for all the operations in the Housekeeping Department.

• Ensure the highest standard of cleanliness, disinfection, and service to our Guests in all accommodations, public areas and to Crew in crew areas.

• Ensure that daily inspection of guest suites and public spaces are carry out as needed and that Company`s high standards of cleanliness and guest service are maintained throughout the vessel.

• Is responsible for Food Safety in all areas of the department and in all aspects of food safety and quality of food and beverage.

• Conduct training with all Housekeeping Team based on Explora Journeys Standards, reviewing procedures, following up on concerns and comments highlighted in the most recent Guest Comment.

• Ensure that HK Team knows where to find and how to read the Safety Data Sheets related to chemicals used in their daily duties, understands and responds to accidents that may be caused by these chemicals and/or equipment.

• Ensure that ILO is updated and followed daily per Company standards.

• Responsible for the correct distribution and proper storage of guest loaded luggage and the offloading at the end of the journey.

• Maintained current inventories of all items required for the proper fulfillment of assigned duties within the HK department. Ensure that all requisitions are closely monitored, and waste is minimized.

• Ensure that supervised Team creates the finest travel experience onboard the vessel.

• Participates in cost and budget control and ensure that all decisions made are focused on the success of the company.

Your Journey So Far

• High School graduate and specialization in the hospitality field is desirable.

• Minimum of proven 5 years of experience as Housekeeping Manager on board Cruise ships.

• Advanced knowledge on food safety. • Basic knowledge ISO 22000.

• Ability to motivate and work in a harmonious productive team environment, focusing in exceeding the guests’ expectations, motivating the team.

• Proven multi-operational skills on Cruise Ship Housekeeping operations, in a multinational environment.

• Ability to manage the Hotel’s Housekeeping section and budget professionally, efficiently, and economically.

• Qualified (by documented experience) to comply with requirements of Social Accountability in fair and just human resource management techniques.

• Documented understanding and application of Company sanitation protocols relating to areas covered in this position.

• Proficiency in Computers. Microsoft programs including but not limited to, Outlook, Word, Excel. And any ship-management program.

• Fluent in written and spoken English. Any additional European languages is considered an advantage (Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, French).

Your Essentials

• Passport, visas, certificates as specified by the company and as required for exit from the port of origin and entry into the destination cruising area.

• Food Safety/HACCP certificate.
