This role ensures that customer orders are properly entered, scheduled, and tracked through all stages of fabrication — including laser cutting, forming, welding, painting, and assembly — to meet quality and delivery expectations. The position requires strong communication with both customers and internal teams to maintain smooth product flow and on-time delivery.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Process and confirm customer purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of pricing, quantities, and delivery dates.
  • Create and release work orders within the ERP system, aligning with available capacity and material availability.
  • Track part status throughout all fabrication processes (laser, form, weld, paint, and assembly) to ensure timely completion.
  • Communicate schedule updates, order changes, and delivery status to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in customer meetings to review order status, upcoming demand, and performance metrics.
  • Coordinate with Estimating, Engineering, and Quality to ensure manufacturability, proper documentation, and smooth handoff from quote to production.
  • Work closely with Production Supervisors to balance workload, resolve bottlenecks, and adjust schedules as priorities shift.
  • Maintain accurate and current data in the ERP system to support real-time scheduling and reporting.
  • Identify and escalate potential schedule or capacity conflicts to management as needed.

Secondary Responsibilities
  • Provide planning and scheduling support for smaller or secondary customer accounts as assigned.
  • Assist in maintaining standard lead times and updating planning parameters in the ERP system.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to scheduling, communication, and process flow.
  • Cross-train with other planners/schedulers to provide backup support.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in business, supply chain, or manufacturing operations preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or customer service in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of metal fabrication processes such as cutting, forming, welding, finishing, and assembly preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment
  • Primarily office-based with frequent interaction on the production floor.
  • Exposure to typical manufacturing conditions (noise, machinery, moderate temperatures).
