Position Overview
The Green Umbrella Common Orchard Project is seeking a motivated student intern to support regenerative agriculture operations at Camp Washington Perennial Farm during Spring 2026. This hands-on position offers practical experience in urban farming, composting systems, orchard management, and community-based food production.
About Us
The Common Orchard Project trains volunteers to manage 40+ community orchards across Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, maintaining 600+ fruit trees and advancing regenerative agriculture practices. Camp Washington Perennial Farm serves as our production hub, featuring active composting operations, a working nursery, fruit tree orchards, and educational programming.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist with composting operations, including pile management, temperature monitoring, and customer service for compost sales
Support nursery activities including propagation, potting, watering, and plant care
Participate in orchard maintenance tasks such as pruning, mulching, and tree care
Help with educational programming and volunteer coordination
Contribute to farm infrastructure projects and seasonal tasks

Aerated static pile composting systems and compost quality management
Fruit and nut tree cultivation and holistic orchard management
Perennial crop production and nursery operations
Community engagement and volunteer stewardship

QualificationsQualifications
Currently enrolled at Mount St. Joseph University
Federal Work Study eligibility required
Interest in sustainable agriculture, environmental science, or related fields
Ability to perform physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
Enthusiasm for learning and working independently
Driver's license preferred but not required
Physical Requirements
This position involves outdoor work including lifting up to 50 lbs, using hand tools, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
