Joining MOTAT as a Tram Conductor/Driver means becoming part of a passionate frontline team that ensures a reliable tram service between MOTAT’s sites, while engaging with visitors to enhance their understanding of transport history in Aotearoa.
We are seeking several new casual team members to grow our tram operations team. Successful applicants will be trained to operate our trams. MOTAT’s tram service operates daily from 10:00am to 4:00pm, as well as during evenings and special events throughout the year, so a level of flexibility is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform tram conductor duties (full training provided).
- Participate in motorman training to progress into tram driving duties.
- Deliver a high-quality visitor experience and create a welcoming environment representing MOTAT in an engaging and professional manner.
- Ensure tram services operate safely and on time, in line with scheduled timetables or operational requirements.
- Assist visitors, including helping with large personal belongings when required.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience delivering excellent customer service in a busy and diverse environment.
- A proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- The ability to manage both busy and quiet periods.
- Comfort standing for long periods of time.
- A good level of physical fitness, as the role involves regular movement.
- The ability to pass a medical examination for passenger vehicle operation.
- Relevant licences or experience operating trams or other passenger vehicles (advantageous but not essential).
Operating trams for MOTAT is unlike any other role. In addition to joining a passionate and engaging team, you will have the opportunity to progress through the grading system as you build your operational competency.
