Environmental Engineer I

Where will you work: - Esterhazy K2, Saskatchewan, Canada.

About the role

The Engineer/ Specialist will implement and coordinate environmental programs aligning with Mosaic’s Management System to minimize facility risk, and to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and Mosaic’s Corporate Standards.

What will you do?

  • Complete environmental compliance reports as required by various regulatory agencies. Complete environmental inspections and reports to identify actual and potential deficiencies as required by the site’s Approval to Operate. Review and analyze environmental monitoring data including groundwater, surface water, and air quality.

  • Work with Operations to assign corrective actions to environmental related action items and ensure timely completion. Provide technical assistance to operations in the environmental sectors and for activities requiring regulatory consultation.

  • Advise and support project managers on Capital projects having environmental implications and provide coordination with site personnel, contractors, and regulators.  Prepare environmental permit applications including applications to construct and operate pollutant control facilities and decommissioning and reclamation plan updates.

  • Coordinate and supervise environmental expense projects and programs, including management of environmental contractors performing work. Conduct internal compliance audits and assessments and as required, develop corrective action plans.

  • Obtain regulatory approvals for environmental projects.

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor's degree required, major in Engineering

  • Experience practicing environmental sciences in an industrial setting in an asset.

  • Experience in the development and implementation of environmental compliance programs with the mining and/or industrial sectors is preferred.

  • Thorough working knowledge of Provincial and Federal EH&S Acts and Regulations is required to ensure employee safety, environmental protection, and regulatory compliance.

  • Knowledge in geotechnical analysis, soil, pollutant control systems, and experience in Tailings Management.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Experience with AON, Omega, Livelink, OneSource and Maximo is an asset.
