Carpenter General Foreman 

 

SUMMARY  

Mortenson is currently seeking a Carpenter General Foreman that will provide leadership and oversight to multiple crews, work with subcontractors on scheduling and managing crew tasks, ensure quality and safety on the project, and make certain that all necessary materials are available when needed. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Ensure proper IWP is in place and understood by the crew; examine blueprints to determine structure dimensions 
  • Lay out floor plans and cabinetwork using tape, framing square, and calipers; select and inspect materials for code compliance 
  • Determine sequence of fabrication, assembly, and erection activities; assign tasks to workers 
  • Inspect subcontractor work (ductwork, wiring, pipe installations) for specification conformance; install doors, build stairs, and lay hardwood floors 
  • Unload, handle, stockpile, and erect prefabricated materials; order necessary materials in advance 
  • Perform concrete and rough carpentry (hand set walls, footings, gang wall forms, structural concrete decks, slabs, columns, drywall) 
  • Perform finish carpentry (set door frames, hang doors, install hardware, toilet accessories, handrails, partitions, lockers, cabinets, countertops, wall paneling, coffered ceilings, running trim) 
  • Train craft and foreman on job procedures; supervise crews, verify safety, quality, and productivity; assign tasks; verify timecards; lead team members by example; build relationships with diverse individuals; perform other duties as assigned 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • Completion of apprenticeship program 
  • Minimum of six (6) years of related experience  
  • Strong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, detail orientation, and effective communication including active listening and openness to diverse input and feedback 
  • Ability to work with precision, visualize solid objects from drawings, read plans, and operate equipment (table saws, radial arm saws, belt & disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging, and form systems) 
  • Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements 
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
