About this role

The International Wealth Management (IWM) team within Morgan Stanley’s Global Investment Office (GIO) contributes actively to the success of Morgan Stanley’s Advisors and clients.

In support of the Global Investment Committee (GIC), the team develops investment insights into different asset classes and international markets, looking at both developed and emerging markets. The team uses equity and fixed income frameworks as well as currency, commodity, government policy and geopolitical views to analyze investment opportunities and risks. The team supports the GIC and other GIO teams as well as our Financial Advisors and clients across the investment process, providing intellectual capital and conveying the GIC’s views and asset allocation recommendations.

The team also authors or supports multiple investment strategy publications, including the “Global Insights”, “Global Pulse”, “Global Investment Outlook,” and others. These publications seek to analyze and simplify investment ideas and market movements and portfolio strategy guidance for Financial Advisors to follow and share with clients. Advisors frequently turn to the team for strategy guidance and for support with client questions or client meetings.

The team’s lead seeks an analyst with sound judgment, a passion for collaboration and excellence, and a spirit of innovation and ownership, with the goal of supporting strengthening our investment strategy and delivery. This role will provide broad opportunities to contribute to Morgan Stanley’s investment strategy guidance, principally through serving as an analyst contributing to the team’s publications and qualitative and quantitative research.

The candidate will contribute heavily to the team’s research initiatives, including updating and strengthening existing products and processes. An international background and experience, together with studies on topics that cover investment strategy, macroeconomic, policy or geopolitical analysis would be highly welcome.

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably including quantitative coursework
  • Languages skills is a must
  • Experience in research a plus – international issues, macroeconomic, investment strategy, policy or geopolitics
  • Series 7 and 66 preferred, with expectation to obtain within three months of start date
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm for a culture of ownership
  • Passion for gaining understanding of financial markets and their key drivers
  • Desire to thrive in a collaborative environment, leveraging strong interpersonal skills

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $57,000 and $115,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
