Network Automation Lead - Vice President - Software Engineering

We’re seeking someone to join our Enterprise Technology & Services team as a Network Automation Lead in our ENS (Global Tooling) team. This role will be based in Bangalore and will work closely with a geographically distributed team to ensure seamless delivery of automation initiatives. Provide technical oversight and local management for multiple teams, acting as the escalation point for various automation tooling products. The candidate will play a critical role in driving adherence to standards, fostering knowledge sharing, and ensuring alignment with global objective. This is a Lead Software Engineer position at Vice President level, which is part of the job family responsible that develops and maintains software solutions that support business needs..

What you'll do in the role: 

  • Provide technical leadership and hands-on guidance to local network automation teams to ensure successful delivery of objectives.

  • Act as the local escalation point for Operations Automation, resolving technical and operational issues promptly.

  • Drive adherence to standards and best practices across all teams, ensuring consistency in tools, processes, and methodologies.

  • Promote knowledge sharing and collaboration, ensuring tools and processes are well understood across teams.

  • Manage and coordinate resource allocation within the Bangalore pool to meet project and operational goals.

  • Support Agile practices, including coaching and mentoring team members to improve delivery efficiency.

  • Collaborate with global leadership to align local execution with organizational strategy and objectives.

  • Monitor and report on team performance, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.

  • Ensure timely delivery of automation solutions, including integration with network devices, NMS systems, and APIs.

  • Stay current with emerging technologies in network automation, data pipelines, and big data analytics to drive innovation..

What you'll bring to the role:  

  • Proven background in leading network automation teams, having necessary hands-on experience to provide technical guidance where necessary.

  • Experience with Agile working practices and tutoring/coaching others.

  • 4+ years of experience automating network infrastructure tasks using shell and python (or other higher-level language).

  • 4+ years of experience automating networks using configuration management systems such as Ansible, Chef, Salt or Puppet.

  • 4+ years of experience with build pipelines such as Jenkins, Gitlab etc.

  • Understanding of how to programmatically interact with network devices and NMS systems via API (REST, SOAP, OpenAPI).

  • Understanding of data or voice network device configurations and common networking protocols to equivalent CCNA Level or above

  • 5+ years of Linux development experience

  • At least 6 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.


Experience with the following is desired:

  • Web UI (JavaScript, HTML5, Angular, etc)

  • DB admin (Sybase, Mongo)

  • Data pipeline architecture (NiFi, Kafka, Flume)

  • Scripting glue: Python

  • Northbound and Southbound NMS API

  • Spark/Scala

  • Data Science / Big-Data
