Job Summary

MOR PPM Inc. is seeking qualified Valve Technicians for an outage in Sutherland, NE.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Valve Technician shall be fully competent and skilled in all conventional aspects of valve repair. They shall have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in valve repair and testing. Duties shall include testing, checkout, and repair of manual, pneumatic, and electrically operated valves.

  • Capable of working on all types of valves; gate, globe, knife, and butterfly.
  • Capable of removing and replacing / disassembly and reassembly.
  • Capable of cleaning and sandblasting valve parts prior to overhauling.
  • Capable of reseating and lapping valve seats and valve discs.
  • Capable of machining valve discs as well as valve parts.
  • Remove and replace all types of packing, seal rings and seals.
  • Operate basic hand tools, welders, torches.
  • Operate and interpret precision measuring tools as needed to perform associated work.
  • Capable of operating torque wrenches.
  • Rigging qualified.
  • Print reading skills.
  • Writing Skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Skilled in technical communication.
  • Follow DISTRICT Lockout/Tagout Procedures.

Qualifications

OSHA Requirements

All craft are required to have OSHA 10 prior to arriving on site. 

Per Diem:

Using gsa.ogv rates

$178/paid 7 days (except 1st and last week of work – paid days worked). Permanent address must be greater than 50 miles using shortest distance calculation. No PD will be paid on days missed.

Per Diem must be verified and we must retain records for audit. Need 2 items (1 from each list below) and must be dated within 60-90 days of start date.

Per Diem Documentation Requirements:

List A

  • Utility bill for water, gas, electricity, cable or land line at least 30 days old but no more than 3 months
  • Major credit card bill at least 30-days old but no more than 3 months (I suggest we black out account number if someone provides that)
  • Mortgage receipt for permanent address within the past 3 months
  • Rent receipt for permanent address within the past 3 months

List B

  • City, county or other property tax statements within the past 12 months
  • DMV vehicle registration
  • State or federal tax return (if prepared by someone else, need proof of payment to tax preparer). I suggest we ask for first and last page only – everything needs to be blacked out if they provide it
  • Voter registration card

Travel In & Out:

$400 in and out for those with permanent address greater than 200 miles. Must get ROF/RIF for travel out

 Completion Bonus (outage only):

$3.00/ST and 4.50/OT to base rate.  Must meet safety, attendance, and compliance site rules and finish assignment with Lay Off.

Physical Demands

  • Occasional lifting of items weighting a maximum of 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairwells up to 15 levels high.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders (step, extension, cage) up to 24’ high.
  • Able to walk at a normal pace for up to 15 continuous minutes.
  • Able to work from a standing position for 8-12 hours.
  • Ability to twist and bend on a recurring basis.
  • Weather conditions that can be expected are wet, humid, heat and cold, bright/dim light, traffic, heights, dusts, and pollen.
  • The job requires normal visual acuity, field vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, sense of smell, depth perception, and texture perception.
  • Some environments are in a high noise and vibrating area.
