Onsite – Wolverhampton, GBR

Due to growth, we are looking for a flexible individual who is happy to work shifts (mornings/afternoons) and Over time should it be necessary. The Deburr Operator is responsible for finishing precision machined aerospace components by removing burrs, sharp edges, and surface imperfections. This role ensures all parts meet strict aerospace quality, safety, and dimensional standards. The operator uses a variety of hand tools, power tools, and inspection equipment to deliver components suitable for assembly or final shipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deburring & Finishing
  • Remove burrs, sharp edges, and excess material from machined or fabricated aerospace parts using hand tools, rotary tools, sanders, grinders, or tumbling equipment.
  • Perform surface finishing operations such as polishing, blending, radiusing, and chamfering according to engineering drawings and process specifications.
  • Maintain consistent and high quality surface finishes, ensuring no damage to critical part features.
  • Inspection & Quality Control
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, work orders, and quality specifications.
  • Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, comparators, and visual inspection tools.
  • Verify that all parts meet aerospace standards for surface condition, dimensional accuracy, and cleanliness.
  • Document inspection results and flag non conformances for review.
  • Production Support
  • Work closely with machine shop and quality teams to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Follow established aerospace manufacturing processes, safety standards, and quality systems (e.g., AS9100).
  • Assist with cleaning, masking, packaging, and prepping parts for downstream processes such as coating, assembly, or shipping.
  • Tools & Equipment Maintenance
  • Maintain and care for deburring tools and equipment.
  • Ensure tools are kept sharp, clean, and in proper working order.
  • Report equipment issues or tool wear promptly.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong manual dexterity and hand eye coordination.
  • Ability to work with small, intricate, or delicate aerospace components.
  • Familiarity with metallic and non-metallic materials, such as aluminium, titanium, and composites.
  • Good understanding of aerospace tolerances and surface finish requirements.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to precision.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles (advantageous).

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in deburring, metal finishing, or precision component manufacturing (preferably aerospace or automotive).
  • Basic proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and inspection equipment.
  • Understanding of aerospace quality systems like AS9100 or ISO 9001 (a plus).
  • Ability to stand, lift, and work with repetitive motions for extended periods.

Work Environment

  • Precision manufacturing environment involving exposure to fine particulates, moderate noise, and deburring chemicals.
  • Use of PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection is required.
  • Work may involve small, intricate components requiring visual precision under magnification.
