About Montessori School of Raleigh

Established in 1974, The Montessori School of Raleigh (MSR) serves children six weeks through Grade 12, guiding them on their journey to become independent, self-aware, critical thinkers. Practicing the Montessori method established by renowned educator Dr. Maria Montessori, MSR provides a safe place where children of all ages engage in self-directed and real-world learning informed by each child’s unique and individual interests and skills. At the early education and elementary school levels, children build foundational skills as they explore their world and their place in it. In Middle School students continue developing as independent learners as teachers guide them through a rich project-based and hands-on Montessori curriculum. At the high school level, students transition to the International Baccalaureate (IB) program where they engage in a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum, gain real-world experience, and become the leaders in their own lives. Throughout a child’s MSR experience, through age-appropriate experiences and with guidance from expert teachers, the Montessori Method inspires curiosity and discovery as students engage in self-directed, hands-on, and project-based learning.
