About the Role

The Research Governance Officer manages and ensures the efficient and timely processing of applications from receipt through to final authorisation and maintains accurate records of each. The Research Governance Officer will attend meetings as required by the Research Governance Manager and the Head, Research Operations in order to follow through and take control of specialised aspects of the ever changing landscape in clinical research in order to implement change for regulatory requirements and new government guidelines. The role encompasses a very broad range of Research governance measures that will impact on the conduct of research and associated legislative requirements. A key aspect is to manage the influx of Clinical trial and clinical research applications approved by Human Research Ethics committees from all over Australia and ensure Monash Health policies, procedures and legislation is adhered to. Responsibilities lie in ensuring the risk profile for Monash Health is minimised in this specialised area. This involves the management of several sub areas integral to the safe conduct of research as outlined in the key result areas and responsibilities outlined below.

The incumbent must be well versed in the practical application of the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, Good Clinical Practice Research Guidelines, Australian and Victorian Privacy Legislation, Therapeutic Goods Act and the National Clinical Trials Governance Framework.
