MTSI is seeking to hire an experienced Space Payload Systems Engineer to support our Space Based Interceptor program in Huntsville, Alabama. Contract Overview: Golden Dome is a national-level, whole-of-nation initiative in which you will play a critical role in advancing next-generation homeland defense capabilities. Key Responsibilities Payload System Design & Integration : Provide technical leadership for the design, development, and integration of payload subsystems, including sensors, communications systems, thermal management, power systems, and control electronics, aligned with mission performance requirements. System Requirements Development : Define engineering requirements, performance metrics, and interfaces for payload systems, ensuring compliance with program objectives and Department of Defense standards. Technical Analysis : Conduct detailed technical evaluations of payload systems, including structural dynamics, thermal modeling, electromagnetic compatibility, and survivability in space environments. Test & Validation : Lead payload subsystem testing campaigns, including environmental testing (vibration, thermal vacuum, EMI/EMC), functional performance validation, and fault tolerance assessments. Risk Management : Identify, assess, and develop mitigation strategies for technical risks related to payload subsystems, ensuring long-term reliability in operational deployments. Collaboration : Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including Guidance Navigation & Control (GNC) engineers, propulsion experts, software developers, and program managers to ensure seamless integration of payload systems. Mission Assurance : Ensure payload readiness to meet mission success criteria, addressing lifecycle management from concept development through disposal. Documentation & Reporting : Prepare detailed engineering documentation, analysis reports, and system-level designs for internal and external stakeholders. Required Qualifications: Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree with 15 years’ related experience; Master’s degree preferred. Required Security Clearance: Must have an Active Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility 5 years’ prior experience for access to Special Access Program Information (SAP), or Controlled Access Program (CAP); must have 1 year in the last 5 years. Technical Expertise : Knowledge of space systems engineering, including spacecraft payload architectures. Experience with space environment considerations such as radiation shielding, thermal control, and materials durability. Familiarity with DoD and NASA standards for space systems development. Proficient in systems modeling tools (e.g., MATLAB, STK, CAD software) and analysis techniques. #LI-AT1
