About this role

MTSI is seeking to hire a Space Operations Subject Matter Expert (SME ) to support our Space-Based Interceptor (SBI) program to join our tea in Huntsville, Alabama. Key Responsibilities: Technical Leadership: Provide expert-level guidance on space operations, focusing on orbital mechanics, satellite systems integration, and SBI-related mission planning. Program Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, test, deploy, and sustain space-based interceptor systems in alignment with program requirements and DoD mission objectives. Systems Analysis: Analyze space environments, threats, and system performance to optimize the operational effectiveness of SBI assets. Risk Assessment: Identify and mitigate risks related to satellite operations, launch planning, orbital deployment, and system reliability. Engineering Integration: Support the design and implementation of space-based sensors, command and control systems, and communication architectures. Mission Simulations: Develop and execute dynamic mission modeling and simulations for space and missile defense scenarios. Compliance: Ensure all operations comply with DoD regulations, international treaties, and space policy guidelines. Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison between government agencies, program partners, and technical teams, delivering briefings, technical reports, and actionable recommendations. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Space Operations, or a related field (Ph.D. preferred). Experience: 20+ years of demonstrated expertise in space operations, orbital mechanics, and satellite systems. Experience working with DoD programs or missile defense systems is highly desirable. Experience developing and integrating space-based systems for national security applications is a strong plus. Technical Skills: Proficiency in tools/software such as MATLAB, STK, GMAT, or similar platforms for orbital analysis and modeling. Knowledge: Thorough understanding of missile defense architectures, kinetic kill vehicles, and space situational awareness concepts. Security Clearance: Active DoD Top Secret clearance required with SCI eligibility. #LI-AT1
