Senior Engineer, Piping MaterialWe are currently based at KL Eco City, Malaysia.
We are seeking a Piping Material Engineer to handle all piping activities, preparing and supporting engineering deliverables for assigned projects potentially including short-term assignments in Construction, Commissioning, and Offshore—delivering effectively and efficiently to meet specified technical requirements and timelines with minimal guidance, while proactively identifying and resolving recurring basic engineering issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Understand and apply project specifications, standards, classification society rules, local regulations, and industry codes to execute piping scope and deliverables.
Prepare piping material, valve, insulation, and flange management specifications by adapting MODEC corporate standards to project needs.
Perform pipe wall thickness calculations per applicable design codes.
Develop Bills of Materials for bulk items (pipes, flanges, fittings), valves, specials, gaskets, studs/nuts, and pipe supports.
Prepare data sheets for process-critical and non-critical piping specialty items using required process parameters.
Issue requisitions for bulk items, valves, specials, gaskets, studs/nuts, spring supports, cargo tank heating coils (marine), and valve remote control systems (marine); perform technical bid evaluations and recommend technically compliant vendors.
Conduct supplier kick-off meetings; review and coordinate supplier documents and ensure integration into piping layout/design.
Collaborate with suppliers/contractors to resolve technical issues; witness FATs as needed.
Support Senior/Lead Piping Engineer and provide technical support to yard, construction, commissioning, and off-site teams as required.
Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement.
Job Requirements:
A minimum of 12 years of relevant working experience in piping engineering in the oil and gas sector, preferably in FPSO or Offshore processing facilities for graduates, or a minimum of 15 years of relevant working experience for diploma holders. For a Masters’s degree holder, a minimum of 10 years of relevant working experience is required.
Language(s) and Software:
MS Office, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Material Management System (SPMAT, AVEVA ERM).
Working Conditions
Mainly in the office environment. Occasional visits may be required to supplier/manufacturing facilities. Visits or short-term posting to fabrication yard, project site, or offshore facility.
