Occupational Health SpecialistWe are currently based at KL Eco City, Malaysia.
Role Purpose
The Occupational Health Specialist is responsible for safeguarding and promoting the health and well-being of employees across the organization. This role provides expert guidance on occupational health risks, develops and implements health management strategies, and ensures compliance with statutory and industry requirements. By proactively addressing workplace health concerns, the Occupational Health Specialist supports a safe, resilient, and productive workforce while contributing to the organization’s broader HSSE objectives.
Key Accountabilities
Occupational Health Management
Subject-matter expert in Fitness-for-Work program (pre-employment, medical surveillance, return-to-work evaluations, etc.)
Develop and maintain Health Risk Assessments (HRA) Project Execution, including identification and controls of Occupational Health Hazards.
Validate and approve the medical fitness status of agency personnel prior to their deployment to project teams, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory health standards.
Medical Case Management
Coordinate and manage employees' medical cases to ensure support and coverage in accordance with the company's requirements.
Well-being & Preventive Health Initiatives
Design and implement health promotion and wellness programs. 2. Develop training programs for the workforce on occupational health-related topics.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting
Ensure compliance with occupational health legislation, international standards, and client HSSE requirements.
Maintain accurate health records, analyze trends, and prepare reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
Crisis and Emergency Response
Support medical emergency response plan (MERP) development, drills and interface with external providers.
Provide occupational health input to drills, exercises, and incident investigations.
Provide guidance on health related requirement of the site aligned with IOGP or equivalent standard
Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory
Act as a subject matter expert on occupational health, providing advice to project teams, line managers, and HSSE leadership.
Liaise with external healthcare providers, regulatory authorities, other MODEC Group entities, and client representatives as required.
Continuous Improvement & Training
Deliver training and awareness programs on occupational health topics.
Review and improve occupational health practices, aligning with industry best practices and emerging trends.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Nursing, Environmental/Health Sciences or related field.
Recognized certification in Occupational Health Nursing, Industrial Hygiene, or Occupational Medicine is preferred.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in occupational health, with exposure to marine/offshore, energy, or heavy industry environments.
Registered/licensed with relevant health authority/professional body (or equivalent)
Technical:
Strong knowledge of occupational health principles, practices, and legislation (local and international).
Familiarity with marine, offshore, and shipyard operations, including associated occupational health challenges.
Experienced in procedure and process development.
Proficiency in data analysis and health reporting for trends, compliance, and performance monitoring.
Preferably good understanding of industrial hygiene principles (noise, heat stress, ergonomics, chemical exposure).
Ability to deliver training and awareness sessions to various workforce levels.
Effective use of health information systems and record management tools.
Part of the MODEC Group, MODEC in Singapore provides engineering design and consultancy services to support oil and gas extraction and offshore exploration activities. The Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation (EPCI) of Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels and other floating production systems is handled by MODEC Offshore Production Systems (Singapore) and Offshore Frontier Solutions, the latter a joint venture company formed by MODEC Inc. and Toyo Engineering Corporation in 2022.
A new execution center has been opened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as part of the company’s expansion plan to continue extending our capabilities and services to support our clients. OFS has also partnered with Toyo India to establish OFS India in Bengaluru, India. OFS India will execute Front End Engineering & Design (FEED) and detailed engineering, and provide procurement support for the topsides of FPSO projects, among its primary business activities.
