SUMMARY: The primary responsibilities of this position are to help the facility meet the sanitary requirements of a Food Production Plant by following the Master Sanitations Schedule and following all SSOPs while supporting the Environmental Team as needed. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work safely and observe all plant safety, GMP, and food safety rules. 
  • Work in a safe manner and insure zero accidents.
  • Maintenance of all processing equipment in a sanitary condition and the reporting of equipment conditions to responsible associates.
  • Performing tests for the microbiological examination of equipment.
  • The maintenance and running of all mini-CIP systems.
  • The maintenance of all PROD/CIP connections.
  • The maintenance of all CIP/COP tanks.
  • The establishment of CIP system chemical concentration control by product grouping and actual titrations of chemical solutions.
  • The maintenance of CIP source/recovery systems.
  • Insuring proper storage of all CIP/PROD swing piping.
  • The maintenance of chemical storage areas.
  • The maintenance of all chemical distribution methods including the labeling of chemical containers.
  • The responsibility of working directly with chemical representatives to establish chemical usage data and reduce chemical costs.
  • The responsibility of testing new chemicals and recommending their use based on cost and effectiveness.
  • Responsible for effectively managing the cook’s platform in the kitchen during production nights.
  • Maintain all valve/pump parts and work with stockroom personnel to ensure adequate parts are on hand.
  • Maintain all sanitation equipment in a "ready-to-use" condition and with stockroom personnel to ensure adequate parts are on hand.
  • The responsibility for the cleaning and setting up of fillers and reporting of equipment conditions to designated associates.
  • Work required hours to provide coverage for vacation, absence on assigned team and/or other sanitation team as required.
  • The responsibility of cleaning process/and packaging areas of the plant, both manual and computerized.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and floor scrubbing equipment.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Perform all TPM activities required.
  • The establishment and maintenance of a sanitary valve/pump program.
  • The establishment of a gasket/checkball inspection/replacement program.
  • Direct involvement in equipment installations and the requirements of cleaning these systems.
  •  Be directly involved in piping changes and redesigns.
  • Ability to run CIP systems (computerized).           

EDUCATION:

  •            High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and floor scrubbing equipment
  • Basic plumbing skills (unclog drains, repair leaks)
  • Basic mechanical skills (tool care, power tool use, parts inventory)
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment/furniture
  • Ability to work in cold/outdoor environment and stand for long periods of time
  • Strong Computer skills (ability to run CIP programs)
  • Self-Motivated (must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner without direct supervision)
  • Complete all required Safety, Quality, Sanitation/Chemical training and follow all plant policies.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong Computer Literacy skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical aspects of the job as performed in an 8-hour workday.

  • Ability to pull, push, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., 50+ lbs. with assistance.
