Role Overview

Assigned to the New Generation Systems (NGS) Business Unit, the NGS Manager of Supply Chain Project Management is responsible for the procurement requirements for GT auxiliary equipment from proposal phase through the end of project warranty period.  This role manages a team of supply chain project management professionals and requires strong coordination with internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with project requirements.

 

The NGS Supply Chain is focused on the delivery, installation, start-up and commissioning of Gas Turbine Combined Cycle (GTCC) power plant products and services supplied by MPWA. Project procurement scope includes bidding, purchase order award, expediting, inspection, delivery, warranty and contract close-out activities. The Manager of Supply Chain Project Management reports to the Director of NGS Supply Chain. The NGS Supply Chain team supports the NGS Project Execution organization in achieving profit and loss targets established by MPWA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Lead a team responsible for the procurement of procurement activities associated with GTCC contracts managed by the NGS Project Execution organization. The NGS Supply Chain Management department scope of work is primarily focused on gas turbine auxiliary equipment but also includes steam turbine and generator auxiliaries as well.
  • Develop and implement standardized processes and procedures at both an individual project and enterprise level that demonstrate progress to date, forecasted cost at completion, forecasted time to complete and the variances in budgeted cost and schedule of procurements associated with NGS project baselines.
  • Support the planning and estimating process used to develop NGS project bids/proposals employing standardized equipment and services cost tracking.
  • Support the supplier qualification process to include initial, recurring and expanded evaluation of suppliers.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Maintain information exchanges and communications with all groups and organizations.
  • Provide a central point of coordination for procurement activities.
  • Understand the organization’s business practices and issues while managing requests and providing customer service, guidance, and advanced support for products and/or programs.
  • Make sound recommendations regarding scheduling request prioritization for the products and services being provided.
  • Exhibits leadership with internal departments, external customers, and MPWA management.
  • Maintain the records of project procurement activities/history and prepare reports, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Review forecast of upcoming projects to establish execution strategies and direct labor requirements.
  • Resolve conflicts as required.
  • Effective management and execution of approved departmental budget.
  • Participate in his/her team personnel development process, including (monthly/quarterly) check-in meetings, annual performance reviews.

Requirements

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university; and eight (8) years of supply chain experience; or, eight (8) years of technical experience with power generation equipment or power plant construction; OR, Any equivalent combination.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, engineering drawings, engineering specifications for material, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and basic database. Experience with Sharepoint, SAP, Power BI, Excel and P6 is preferred.
  • Management Skills:  Ability to effectively communicate job task, goals and projects to global sourcing staff as well as manage and delegate when necessary.
  • Ability to travel 25%
