Role Overview

The Simulation Development Engineer supports development, validation, and testing of simulation models with an emphasis on Netmation logic testing for upgrades and new product development. The role contributes to improving first-time quality, reliability, and availability of generating assets across the Mitsubishi Power Americas fleet. The ideal candidate has at least five years of experience in control logic design and familiarity with gas turbine start-up and commissioning in both simple and combined cycle applications.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing GTCC simulation models (GT/ST/BOP) to support Netmation control logic testing.
  • Develop serial interface protocols and programming across diverse control system platforms.
  • Support continuous improvement and expansion of simulation models for multiple turbine frames.
  • Maintain simulators to validate logic sequencing, protective scheme operation, and control system settings.
  • Contribute to multi-generational planning and advancement of simulation capabilities.
  • Support coordinated simulation-based logic testing activities with internal and external teams.
  • Apply networking, virtualization, and server management knowledge to simulation environments.
  • Participate in project planning and support occasional overnight travel.

 

Requirements

  • Proficiency in digital control system concepts for gas turbine combined cycle powerplants.
  • Familiarity with DCS platforms such as TXP, T3K, Ovation, Mark VIe, or equivalent PLC/DCS technologies.
  • Knowledge of gas turbine powerplants in simple and combined cycle configurations including balance-of-plant systems.
  • Understanding of thermal performance principles for combined cycle powerplants.
  • Competence in one or more high-level programming languages.
  • Ability to plan and schedule technical projects requiring cross-organizational coordination.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; experience with control system requirements and logic specifications required.
  • Ability to analyze technical documents, write reports, and communicate effectively with varied audiences.
  • Strong mathematical capability including probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Proficiency with SharePoint, Windows OS, Java, Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, PI system database software, and technical diagram tools.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting up to 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in loud environments with required PPE.
