Role Overview

The Project Engineer for Steam Turbine and Generator acts as a liaison between MPWA engineering, project management, EPC partners, and customers. The role integrates engineering, scheduling, and procurement aspects of projects to ensure technical alignment, contractual compliance, and successful execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead resolution of technical items related to steam turbines or generators among EPCs, Owner’s Engineers, and Customers.
  • Develop guidelines and strategies with affiliates to establish clear Division of Responsibilities (DOR) and working procedures.
  • Gather and share lessons learned from steam turbine and generator projects across the organization.
  • Read and interpret P&ID, SLD, and equipment layout drawings.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary technical issue resolution between MPWA engineering and suppliers.
  • Support translation of contract scope into engineering deliverables.
  • Conduct meetings with international engineering partners for project alignment.
  • Review and comment on project documents and drawings per contract requirements.
  • Collaborate with gas turbine and lead project engineers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain familiarity with applicable engineering codes (ASME, ANSI, AWS, API, ASTM, NFPA, IEEE, NEC).
  • Develop process‑improvement concepts to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Follow up and resolve pending items through project execution and warranty period.
  • Coordinate with Global Sourcing, QA, and Project Managers regarding vendors/subcontractors.
  • Assist Application Engineering in reviewing and evaluating customer specifications.
  • Protect confidential information and maintain high integrity.
  • Comply with all safety policies and report unsafe activities.
  • Foster positive team spirit and communicate effectively across all levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university; minimum 8 years of relevant experience (EPC, OEM, or power/petrochemical).
  • Deep understanding of multidisciplinary engineering workflows and EPC interfaces.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree, P.E. license, PMP certification, SP3D experience, ISO/OSHA familiarity, international experience, Japanese or Spanish fluency.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities for interpreting technical instructions.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, 3D modeling tools (SmartPlant/PDMS), and diagramming software (Visio).
