Role Overview

The Engineering Service Associate is responsible for developing, evaluating, and improving gas turbine service methods including support of management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing, design, and service capabilities. This role is also responsible for manufacturing, sourcing, and service engineering teams by applying technical knowledge to troubleshoot issues, develop solutions for repair challenges, and address non‑conformances within production and service operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Support Engineering team members for root cause investigations, including analysis of fracture surfaces, thermal system modeling, and failure investigations. 
  • Collaborate with engineering staff to develop and author work procedures for the individual steps of the manufacturing/repair process.
  • Develop and apply corrective actions addressing nonconformances or root causes.
  • Perform data analysis for trending of operation, component life extension analysis and FMEA, component degradation evaluation, etc. 
  • Report creation, clean up, and publishing Product Data Management Systems. 
  • Assist and guide project management of tasking and review and report out to leadership 
  • Planning and designing staff concerning product design and application of service products 
  • Support team members in evaluation of vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a college undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a technical discipline (e.g. Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Aerospace Engineering) at a four-year college or university.
  • Strong analytical skills related to engineering problem solving. Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, gas and steam turbine operation and design, and material selection and properties. Prior exposure to manufacturing environments, design engineering, or gas turbine operation is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and electronic mail. Experience with coding tools such as Python, MatLab, and C++ is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and organizational skills.
