Role Overview

Mitsubishi Power is hiring an Automation Engineer for the Savannah Machinery Works (SMW) location.  The Automation Engineer position requires knowledge of engineering principles and will develop specific application knowledge and skills through training and work assignments. The Automation Engineer position provides technical support to the manufacturing organization by implementing innovative technologies. The automation engineering department drives the application of technology that improves manufacturing safety, quality, lead time, and cost.

  • Serve as the authority for assigned projects, managing all related issues and maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of technical items, schedule and cost.
  • Lead automation projects while partnering with operations, quality, supply chain, engineering and IT teams to ensure seamless implementation of projects within the manufacturing environment.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and technical partners deliver projects within safety requirements, scope, on time and on budget.
  • Contribute to ISO 9001 compliance and ensure all automation systems comply with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
  • Help identify, evaluate and implement emerging technologies (AI, machine learning, vision systems, IoT, robotics, etc.)
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support engineering and operational goals.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical or engineering field.
  • Strong understanding of robotics, welding, machining, and assembly.
  • Experience programming robots, CNC machines or other coding languages
  • Proficient in reading and writing technical documents, customer reports and industry publications.
  • Capable of presenting information clearly in small group settings.
  • Solid math skills for job-related calculations.
  • Able to make sound decisions based on technical specifications and requirements.
  • Advanced computer skills in solid modeling, AI prompting, Microsoft suite tools, and graphics/drawings.
