About this role

Mitchell College is conducting a search for a Development Associate to support the fundraising and stewardship efforts of Mitchell College. This position will provide operational, data, and donor engagement support to the Office of Advancement; play a key role in ensuring accurate gift processing, timely donor acknowledgment, and consistent stewardship, while supporting entry-level donor engagement and Advancement initiatives.

This position is full time, full year and includes a comprehensive benefits package.    

Primary Responsibilities Include: 

Donor Engagement & Stewardship (25–30%)

  • Manage a small portfolio of entry-level donors with a focus on stewardship, renewals, and modest upgrades.
  • Conduct donor outreach, including thank-you calls, emails, and follow-up communications, to support donor retention.
  • Assist with prospect discovery through introductory outreach to alumni, parents, and friends.
  • Prepare donor briefing materials and meeting prep packets for Advancement leadership and the President.
  • Support donor visits, campus tours, and small cultivation events as a secondary host.

Advancement Operations & Gift Processing (40%)

  • Maintain accurate donor records in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT, including gifts, actions, notes, and donor intent.
  • Support gift processing and coordinate timely acknowledgments in accordance with institutional policy and IRS standards.
  • Prepare acknowledgment materials and supporting data for correspondence drafted and signed by Advancement leadership.
  • Track acknowledgment timelines and stewardship activity to ensure prompt donor recognition.
  • Assist with donor impact summaries, Annual Fund updates, and scholarship stewardship materials.
  • Coordinate with the Finance Office to ensure gifts are properly recorded and stewarded in alignment with donor intent.

Research, Events & Campaign Support (30%)

  • Conduct basic prospect research using Kindsight, LinkedIn, and internal data.
  • Coordinate logistics for Advancement events, including RSVPs, guest lists, and follow-up tracking.
  • Support foundation and corporate grant activity by gathering data and tracking submissions and reports.
  • Assist with Annual Fund initiatives, including Day of Giving and appeals, through list preparation, segmentation, and reporting.

Required Education and Experience:

A Bachelor's degree, required with 1-3 years of experience in a nonprofit, higher education, or advancement services environment. Must be able to demonstrated experience working directly in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT, including constituent records, gift entry, queries, and reporting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong written and verbal communication, high attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professional judgement and discretion in handling confidential information. This position requires a collaborative, service-orientated appraoch when working with internal and external constituents. Knowledge of basic accounting concepts related to gift processing and fund designation is a plus.
