POSITION SUMMARY


The PBX Operator is a multiple-position switchboard, including handling incoming, outgoing, and inter-service calls. The PBX Operator is responsible for monitoring alarms and panels in the communication area. The PBX Operator responsibilities are understanding and notification of the proper personnel in the handling of alarms and panels.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:


Answers telephone calls and routine inquiries. Makes necessary connections on a PBX and places calls for patients, and or MCH staff members.

Routes routine and emergency calls.

Overhead pages emergency codes.

Pages, locates, and relays messages for physicians and facility personnel.

Greets every caller internal and external in an appropriate, friendly, professional manner.

Ensures all visitors, vendors, and or patients sign in on the required log.

Directs visitors, vendors, and or patients to their destinations.

Documents and maintains all logs for alarms and codes. 

Prepares all work orders for Support Services.

Completes proper documentation needs for Work Order Systems.

Performs related duties as requested by Administration and or Director.

Follow confidentiality policy and procedures.

                

QUALIFICATIONS:


High School Graduate

Good verbal and written skills, Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, physicians, and the community.

Manual dexterity is essential in this position.

Ability to follow proper lifting techniques, push wheelchairs with weight to 150 lbs.

Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced area where the performance of several tasks may be required simultaneously.

Minimum of 6 months to a year of Customer Service.

Preferred experience in using/operating the PBX, computer terminal, work order systems, copy machine, fax machine, two-way radio.

Employees must obtain his/her MAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior) and or Fire Card within the first 60 days of employment.

Employee required to attend an AIDET Training class.
