Beyond the PO: Transform Our Supply Chain as a Category Buyer.

The Category Buyer executes day-to-day purchasing activities in alignment with Millennium’s category strategies, supplier programs, and inventory objectives. This role translates demand signals, forecasts, and project requirements into accurate, timely purchase orders while protecting margin integrity, inventory health, and supplier performance standards.  Acting as an execution partner to the Category Manager, the Category Buyer builds strong working relationships with assigned suppliers to ensure clear communication, reliable execution, and timely issue resolution. Through consistent, professional engagement, this role helps reinforce Millennium’s preferred supplier strategy while supporting scalable growth and operational excellence.

Driving Impact Through:Purchasing Execution & PO Accuracy
  • Order Execution: Place accurate, compliant POs based on Category Manager direction and supplier strategies.
  • Validation: Audit pricing, freight terms, lead times, and ship-from logic prior to placement.
  • Lifecycle Tracking: Monitor open orders, confirmations, and backorders to ensure timely delivery and follow-through.
Inventory Discipline & Demand Alignment
  • Strategic Buying: Convert demand signals and forecasts into purchasing actions while prioritizing existing stock and transfers.
  • Metric Support: Support inventory turns, Days on Hand (DOH), cost improvement targets and Slow Moving Inventory (SMI) reduction.
  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively escalate risks regarding excess, slow-moving, or misaligned stock.
Supplier Support & Issue Resolution
  • Relationship Management: Act as the primary professional contact for order execution and delivery coordination.
  • Performance Tracking: Log and resolve supplier issues, including late shipments, damages, and packaging concerns.
  • Market Intelligence: Communicate supplier constraints and identify potential innovations or insights to share with internal teams.
Cross-Functional Support
  • Sales Enablement: Assist the Deal Desk with accurate sourcing, availability, and lead-time data for quotes.
  • Operational Alignment: Partner with warehouse teams to resolve receiving, labeling, and storage discrepancies.
  • Communication: Provide stakeholders with clear status updates and escalate exceptions outside established guardrails.
System Accuracy & Process Adherence
  • Data Integrity: Maintain precise records within NetStock and ensure clean documentation of all supplier communications.
  • Compliance: Adhere to established purchasing workflows, approval processes, and inventory policies.
  • Process Improvement: Participate in initiatives to enhance purchasing efficiency and execution quality.
