Job Description Summary
The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a key role in delivering patient-centered care within a managed care primary care practice. This position supports providers with direct patient care, ensures accurate clinical documentation, and contributes to quality initiatives such as HEDIS oversight. The MA performs clinical tasks including blood draws, injections, wound care, and patient education, while also assisting with care coordination and population health management.
How will you make an impact & Requirements
Prepare patients for exams, record vital signs, medical histories, and current medications.
Perform blood draws, collect and process lab specimens, and complete point-of-care testing.
Administer injections, immunizations, and medications as directed.
Provide wound care, dressing changes, and basic clinical procedures under provider supervision.
Assist providers during patient exams, procedures, and treatments.
Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
Support HEDIS and quality initiatives, including tracking and closing care gaps, preventive screenings, and chronic disease management.
Educate patients on medication use, treatment plans, preventive care, and lifestyle modifications.
Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and supplies in compliance with infection control and safety standards.
Comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and all clinic policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned, supporting organizational goals and initiatives.
