About this role

Milacron is looking for a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our Roboshot/Q-Series team in Batavia. OH. The role focuses on refining and enhancing processes by applying continuous improvement and key Lean principles and techniques to production areas. The candidate will improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout. Responsibilities include utilizing Visual Controls, Lean Daily Management, and Leader Standard Work to ensure healthy manufacturing processes and target results are achieved to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost KPIs, and assisting in capital investment projects. This role involves collaborating with design, quality, and production teams to troubleshoot issues, determine root causes of failures, sponsor and lead continuous improvement projects, and conduct training on manufacturing processes and quality assurance concepts.

Work You'll Do:

  • Recommend and implement process improvements.
  • Refine and enhance processes by applying continuous improvement and key Lean principles.
  • Support short and long term industrial capacity planning.
  • Work on improving operation performance KPIs in Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Delivery.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout.
  • Utilize Visual Controls, Lean Daily Management, and Leader Standard Work.
  • Analyze zone and assembly flow through the work cells and implement improvements.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects, problem solving, and kaizen activities.
  • Maintain work cell layouts, process flow maps, and value stream maps to benchmark productivity and provide future evaluation opportunities.
  • Evaluate capital equipment opportunities and provide purchase justification with calculated ROI; oversee purchase, installation, and start-up of equipment.
  • Partner with the Quality organization to investigate and resolve quality problems and support the Quality Assurance program.
  • Determine root cause of failure that may result in changes in design, tolerances or processing methods.
  • Develop and implement work instructions, standard work, and training program documentation
  • Conduct training on manufacturing processes, quality assurance concepts and tools.
  • Improve the accuracy of production standards through time study, standard data development, and the application of elemental standard times or other methods.
  • Improve safety and reduce environmental hazards in all endeavors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or a high school diploma/GED with relevant experience
  • Excellent math skills and familiarity with personal computer
  • Experience with CAD/CAM Systems required for creating process prints, designing tools, fixtures, and gauges
  • Ability to read and understand Engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use basic measuring tools
  • Computer skills; ERP system (preferred JD Edwards E1), Microsoft Office (Good MS Excel Skills), and CAD software (AutoCAD & CREO)
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of personnel
