Overview
Mika, the Mediterranean restaurant by James Beard Award–winning Chef Michael White, is seeking energetic, detail-oriented Food Runners to support our front-of-house and culinary teams. This role is essential to delivering a seamless dining experience, ensuring dishes are delivered promptly, accurately, and beautifully.
Food Runners at Mika play a key role in maintaining service flow, supporting servers, and upholding the presentation and quality standards of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
Service Support
Deliver food from the kitchen to guests quickly and accurately
Verify each dish for correct table, seat number, and presentation
Announce dishes clearly and confidently when presenting to guests
Assist servers with table maintenance and guest needs as required
Quality & Timing
Ensure food is delivered at peak quality and proper temperature
Communicate with kitchen and servers regarding timing and special requests
Support smooth pacing and coordination during service
Teamwork & Organization
Maintain a clean, organized expo and service areas
Assist with restocking, polishing, and side work
Work collaboratively with kitchen and FOH teams to ensure efficient service
Follow all service standards, safety, and sanitation guidelines
Qualifications
Previous restaurant experience preferred but not required
Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
Ability to multitask and stay focused in a fast-paced environment
Clear communication skills and professional demeanor
Willingness to learn and support the team wherever needed
Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
