About this role

Overview

Microsoft’s Corporate Development group is a small team of deal professionals that sources, evaluates and executes acquisitions, divestitures, investments, joint ventures and partnerships across all of Microsoft’s business groups. The team interacts regularly with Microsoft’s senior management, including frequent discussions with the company’s CEO and Chief Financial Officer. The team is looking for a Corporate Development Analyst with an interest in technology.

Responsibilities

As a Corporate Development Analyst, you will play an integral role in charting the future direction of Microsoft and will participate in landscape-defining transactions. You will join an accomplished team of individuals with extensive M&A experience from leading investment banks, private equity firms, consulting firms and corporations. For any given deal, Corporate Development Analysts will lead valuation analysis and actively participate in deal structuring, negotiation strategy, and review of term sheets and definitive agreements. You will play a vital role in upfront idea generation, strategic evaluation and business planning, coordination of financial, tax and legal due diligence, and post-close integration planning. As a Corporate Development Analyst you will also interface with the investment banking, venture capital and startup communities.

 

The Corporate Development team encourages and supports the Corporate Development Analyst to pursue new challenges and assume greater responsibilities. Furthermore, leaders of this team are highly dedicated to personal career development; they organize advanced M&A training sessions, meet with each Analyst on a regular basis to discuss career development and offer personal coaching to improve professional skills. In the long-term, the executive leadership of Microsoft will continue to look to the Corporate Development team as a source for new business leaders within the company, building on a tradition of exporting talent to Microsoft’s business groups.



Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business AND 1+ year(s) experience in project management, mergers and acquisitions, corporate development, finance and analysis, and/or strategic or relationship management role OR equivalent experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business AND 2+ years experience in project management, mergers and acquisitions, corporate development, finance and analysis, and/or strategic or relationship management role OR Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business OR equivalent experience.
Direct venture, private equity, investment banking, or strategic corporate investment experience or related technology investment experience.


Corporate Development IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $68,300 - $137,900 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $93,200 - $151,200 per year.
