Job Description:

The Microchip Wireless Solutions Group (WSG)  is seeking a Technical Staff Engineer Architect specializing in hardware for wireless technologies. You will architect and design next-generation ultra low power wireless hardware systems with a focus on analog RF design and signal processing. You will provide technical leadership, and guide development of high-performance, reliable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead architecture and design of advanced wireless hardware systems, focusing on state-of-the-art ultra-low power RF solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional, global teams to translate requirements into robust hardware solutions.
  • Mentor hardware engineers and foster technical excellence.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide expert feedback on schematics and layouts.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware issues, including RF performance and system integration.
  • Document architectural decisions and hardware specifications.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 12+ years in hardware engineering, with 5+ years in architectural or technical leadership roles focused on wireless technologies.
  • Proven experience with ultra low power wireless hardware (BLE, WiFi, IEEE 802.15.4, UWB, NFC).
  • Strong proficiency in analog design using Cadence, RF design, PCB layout, hardware validation, and signal processing.
  • Deep understanding of wireless protocols, standards, and compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with international teams.
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with antenna design, EMC/EMI mitigation, and wireless certification.
  • Familiarity with optimal analog vs. digital hardware partitioning as well as hardware-software co-design
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) and its application in wireless systems.
  • Good communication skills in writing and speaking English.
