The Michigan Milk Producers Association is a dairy farmer owned cooperative and dairy processor. Founded in 1916, the MMPA serves dairy farmers in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin.

MMPA maintains a strong presence within the dairy industry with strategic business relationships through a variety of channels like processing shelf-stable, value added dairy products. MMPA has five member owned processing plants in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, including Superior Dairy and the Middlebury Cheese Company. Products made at MMPA’s plants include fluid milk, cheese, ultrafiltered milk, cottage cheese, ice cream, butter, nonfat dry milk, cream and condensed skim milk. 

MMPA is currently seeking an experience Maintenance Planner/Scheduler to join our team. The position's primary focus will be managing the maintenance systems and processes at the Remus facility to improve work force productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of labor, parts and material, tools and equipment, permissions, specialized documentation and equipment access.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for sustaining a proactive maintenance environment that ensures the maintenance systems and processes achieve work force productivity and work quality goals by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of labor, parts and material, tools and equipment, specialized documentation and equipment access.

The planner/scheduler will have full accountability for the long- and short-range planning and scheduling of all maintenance work orders including but not limited to contractor work, preventative work, predictive work, and routine maintenance.

To be successful, this position must be persuasive to coach, influence, and motivate the maintenance supervisors to support the maintenance systems and processes to achieve the weekly plan/schedule.

The planner/scheduler must provide excellent communication and follow through to coordinate between the production and maintenance areas and possess the organizational skills to maintain appropriate records and files to permit meaningful analysis and reporting of results on work done.

Overall performance is measured by identifying and implementing cost savings ideas and improved reliability that results in reduced plant operating costs. Specific maintenance KPI’s will be used to track and measure success: % planned work, % wrench time, % schedule completed, and quality of service.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Requires 1-3 years of industrial Storeroom experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision
  • Must be able to work in rapidly changing environment and adapt to always providing professional and courteous customer service.
  • Must be able to work Safely and keep work environment clean
  • Must have intermediate math skills
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Must be able to use basic office equipment (copier/fax/scan, shipping scale)
  • Must be able to file and cross reference data
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to locate and distribute inventory parts efficiently
  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory records
  • Ability to provide clerical support to the maintenance department as required or requested

Responsibilities:

  • This position requires 2-4 years of supervisory or maintenance planning/management experience in an industrial environment.
  • Advanced experience with a CMMS system.
  • Adequate craft knowledge to estimate labor hours and materials and to visualize the job to be performed.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively train in all functional backgrounds and must understand the different learning styles and how to effectively train each.
  • Must possess the ability and have experience to effectively coach, motivate, and influence indirect reports.
  • Must have an advanced understanding of MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
  • Must have the ability to interpret manuals and CAD drawings. 
  • Must possess skill necessary to fulfill requirements outlined in the purpose, nature/scope, and principal accountabilities.
  • Must possess the ability to keep multiple jobs in controlled motion simultaneously.
  • Must have orientation and commitment to customer service.

 The position requires detail orientation, the ability to balance multiple priorities, and a sense of urgency for problem solving and continuous improvement. A strong level of assertiveness needs to be balanced with exceptional interpersonal skills to achieve results without direct authority.
