The Michigan Milk Producers Association is a dairy farmer owned cooperative and dairy processor. Founded in 1916, the MMPA serves dairy farmers in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin.

MMPA maintains a strong presence within the dairy industry with strategic business relationships through a variety of channels like processing shelf-stable, value added dairy products. MMPA has five member owned processing plants in Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, including Superior Dairy and the Middlebury Cheese Company. Products made at MMPA’s plants include fluid milk, cheese, ultrafiltered milk, cottage cheese, ice cream, butter, nonfat dry milk, cream and condensed skim milk.

Job Summary:

This position requires maintaining accurate maintenance parts inventory. Inventory parts should be kept in a safe and clean environment that allows for locating parts quickly and efficiently. Distribution of inventory parts to maintenance and production personnel requires attention to detail and accurately recording and maintaining inventory transactions and providing required and/or requested reports. Other duties will include purchasing, receiving, packaging and shipping of maintenance parts, filing and clerical support and other duties that apply to the maintenance department.

This position reports to a Supervisor. No employees report to this position. This position will also interact with other key stakeholders such as Maintenance Manager, Production Manager, Maintenance Department Supervisors, Planner/Scheduler, Maintenance Technicians and all other Plant Personnel. The position will also interact with outside sources, suppliers and salesmen.

This position requires the ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment. The position requires attention to detail. Strong communication and decision-making skills due to the diversity of personnel and outside people that they will be in contact with are also a necessary function. The position requires a self-starter with strong work ethics and there will be times when they will work without direct supervision. This position requires working knowledge of any/all company systems such as D365, CMMS to perform daily tasks. This position requires a safety conscious mind that encompasses all of Company core values, policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Requires 1-3 years of industrial Storeroom experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work without direct supervision
  • Must be able to work in rapidly changing environment and adapt to always providing professional and courteous customer service.
  • Must be able to work Safely and keep work environment clean
  • Must have intermediate math skills
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Must be able to use basic office equipment (copier/fax/scan, shipping scale)
  • Must be able to file and cross reference data
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to locate and distribute inventory parts efficiently
  • Ability to maintain accurate inventory records
  • Ability to provide clerical support to the maintenance department as required or requested

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain inventory with issues, returns, repairs, and basic inventory control metrics. Efficiently locate correct part(s) and distribute as requested while confirming departmental charges are correct. Inventory reporting as requested.
  • Updates to master data files for departments include Equipment BOM, Inventory records, Vendor records, Purchasing Records, Work order and PM updates.
  • Purchasing of maintenance inventory parts and special request parts to include best price, best lead time and best vendor. Evaluation of freight vs no freight charges and when expedite fees are necessary / acceptable.
  • Receiving maintenance inventory parts and special order requested parts for work orders or direct charges to departments or accounts, confirming match between PO, pack list data and that what goes into location is match to what is already there.
  • Perform cycle counts that include review that parts in locations are all the same, good/usable condition, if item may be obsolete or if the usage indicates a min/max update. Follow up reports printed and distributed for review and approval. Filing data for internal audits in organized and consistent way
  • Inventory areas are kept organized and clean. All items stored in such a way to maintain safety.
  • Provide clerical support for the maintenance department as requested or required. Meet specified required dates.
  • Reporting, spreadsheet data set up and logging of required data with proper distribution. Example: Daily parts received for work orders, Red Tag Logs, Hot Work Permit tracking etc.
  • Perform all buying activities for storeroom materials to maintain stockouts at "0" levels
  • Manage storeroom kitting to provide complete part kits for all plant work
  • Manage relations with operational supply vendor, to ensure adequate material supply is always maintained for all departments
  • Manage Parts room priorities to ensure plant safety and quality expectations are achieved and that high level of customer service is contributed.
