Location DescriptionMichael Foods, Inc. located in Gaylord, Minnesota is Minnesota's Healthy Heartland! Gaylord is located in south central Minnesota about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. As the County Seat, Gaylord is the "Hub of Sibley County." Our location produces liquid egg, hardcook egg, and precooked egg such as scrambled, patties and omelets.
ResponsibilitiesPOSITION SUMMARY:
The purpose of the job is to care for birds at pullet houses. This position is responsible for assigned barn including providing an excellent environment and quality care for the life of that flock.
QualificationsDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance in relation to production scheduling and/or time volunteered for.
- Responsible for ensuring barn is washed, dusted, swept and repaired for new flock.
- Check feed, ventilation, lighting, heating and water. Makes adjustments as necessary.
- Removes mortality from cages daily and reports on barn sheets.
- Conducts preventive maintenance on equipment as needed. Replaces fan and feeder motors, fan belts and tension fan belts.
- Checks and repairs feed, ventilation, lighting and water to insure needs of animals are met at all times as required by UEP.
- Catches loose birds and place them back in cages at different times of the grow period while observing bird density guidelines.
- Moving birds in and out of houses and keeping accurate population.
- Responsible for keeping floor litter dry and maintained to 1 inch.
- Responsible for turning houses over when a flock is leaving and coming in.
- Follow all LOTO safety procedures and ensure all safety shields are in place.
- Keeping loading deck clear of ice, snow and garbage.
- Cleans assigned houses by sweeping, scraping, and dusting in/around/under cages. Cleans sight tubes and filters.
- General housekeeping such a stowing equipment to prevent safety hazard from clutter.
- Follow all bio-security guidelines and birth health processes.
- Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
The pay range for this position is $19.00 to $23.00 per hour.
