About this role

The Generator Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial generator systems. This role includes performing diagnostics, estimating repairs, managing parts, and maintaining accurate records. The technician also plays a key role in ensuring customer satisfaction through responsive service and effective communication.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Equipment Maintenance & Repair:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair generator systems using available technical resources
  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure reliability and performance
  • Identify required parts, procure repair materials, and complete repairs efficiently
  • Maintain a fully stocked service vehicle with tools and commonly used materials

Repair Estimation & Documentation:

  • Assess equipment needs and determine the scope of repair work.
  • Estimate repair costs including labor, parts, and materials using department standards.
  • Provide accurate estimates to customers and communicate any changes promptly.
  • Complete and submit detailed service reports and documentation for each job.

Customer Service & Satisfaction:

  • Assist in prioritizing and organizing fieldwork to meet customer timelines
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure a positive service experience.
  • Take prompt action to address and resolve customer issues or complaints.

Safety/Hazard Recognition & Elimination:

  • Pre-plan and identify the methods to eliminate hazards daily by work task.
  • Execute skill in observing habits and hazards of others and bringing it to their attention.
  • Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company. Support goal of achieving zero accidents.
  • Promote and encourage open communication between field and office regarding all safety concerns, suggestions, improvements, and PPE needed.
  • Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel.

Qualifications:

- Must have at least 5 years’ experience in Electrical Service, Commercial and Residential. Good Driving record. Good Communication Skills. Generator experience a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and can pass pre-employment screening requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old and 21 for drivers
- Provide I-9 documents to establish work eligibility
- High school diploma/equivalent required; technical degree preferred. An equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience can substitute
- Generator installation is a plus, but will train the right candidate
