Merrick is seeking a Civil Infrastructure Federal Market Sector Leader to intentionally grow an existing civil infrastructure practice that works in concert with water, wastewater, surface water, transportation, and site infrastructure and development markets to serve federal clients.

 

The individual must be a leader with the ability to establish a vision and related strategies, and inspire others to lead and grow a national federal civil infrastructure consulting practice. This position has primary responsibility to lead the firm’s federal civil infrastructure engineering discipline. This key Leader must collaborate with other markets and business units, communicate effectively, be courageous and resilient, drive engagement with a customer focus, have interpersonal savvy in building networks, and must be action oriented when adapting to changing situations. The primary focus will include business and market development, managing operations for federal civil infrastructure program of projects, and will work hand-in-hand with other Merrick offices and business units promoting and providing solutions to infrastructure problems to Federal clients. Federal clients served range widely and include DOD, DOI, USDA, and DOE.

 

Annual salary range for this position is $170,000 to $207,000 depending on experience. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. #LI-Hybrid 

 


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Demonstrate commitment to the firm’s values of respect, integrity, service and excellence.
  • Develop business strategies and business plans for growing the federal civil infrastructure practice to meet all short term and long-term goals.
  • Develop the business development skills and materials necessary to grow revenues in our federal civil infrastructure practice.
  • Manage the operations of the federal civil infrastructure team to meet financial objectives established in approved business plans. Prepare and manage the federal civil infrastructure team financial plans employing Merrick’s financial management tools.
  • Lead team in preparation of project plans and execution of projects in the federal civil infrastructure market sector.
  • Oversee the development of fee proposals, contractual documents, risk management practices, contract negotiations, change order processes, conflict resolutions, and billing/collection practices.
  • Provide the leadership and mentorship necessary to recruit, develop and retain a motivated, high-performance team comprising the federal civil infrastructure team. Coordinate, support and develop synergies with the marketing efforts and business practices of other IE market sectors (water resources, transportation, and site infrastructure and development); as well as with business units and operations throughout the company.
  • Direct the development and employment of operational procedures and tools as necessary to ensure the federal civil infrastructure team is technically trained and equipped to be effective, efficient, and competitive in providing high quality services.
  • Develop and sustain positive business relationships with other firms and business associates as necessary to form winning and successful teams on projects.
  • Directly supervise the federal civil infrastructure team’s project managers and technical leads in their roles for business development and operations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET Accredited Program. 
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License.
  • Advanced skills in directing the business development and operations of a successful federal civil infrastructure practice with multiple offices.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
