General Summary:
Responsible for supervising, planning, organizing and directing of daily activity of the perioperative orthopedic service. Communicates pertinent information to provide optimum patient care and throughput throughout the perioperative services. Assists in developing and monitoring quality of care and service of the orthopedic perioperative departments. Possesses knowledge of aseptic technique and applies this while participating in surgical procedures, coordination of care of instruments, equipment and supplies. Assists in the provision of care to patients of all age groups.
Essential Functions:
Facilitates patient care including organization and management within established policies, procedures, standards of care, budgetary parameters, and strategic objectives.
Assesses and evaluates staffing patterns for proper utilization of personnel in relation to patient care required, to meet established timelines.
Utilizes appropriate interpersonal styles to create a working environment that is conducive to the achievement of tasks and provides a high qualify working environment for all team members.
Demonstrates technical competence in area of specialty through continuing education.
Develops and participates in performance improvement activities and other committees as assigned.
Assists with development and monitoring of annual capital and operating budgets for assigned areas.
Oversees training and development and monitoring of annual capital and operating budgets for assigned areas.
Participates in the development, review and revision of policies and procedures consistent with the hospital's practice
Maintains cooperative relationships with physicians. Incorporates physicians input into delivery of service and patient care.
Minimum Education:
Required Minimum education: 2 year/ Associates Degree
Specialty: Healthcare related
Preferred Education: 4 year/ Bachelors Degree
Specialty: Healthcare related
*Combination of post secondary education and experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
Licensure/Certifications:
Required: Current Basic Life Support Certification; Management or clinical specialty certification
