Purpose and Scope

The Behavior Technician for MSCS is to assist in supports with prevention of disruptive and at-risk behavior of students by facilitating behavioral services to students, families and educational staff. The position is responsible for assisting teachers with classroom management skills and behavioral strategies to enhance the learning environment allowing student engagement and providing on-going crisis assistance.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assists in classrooms of teachers of students with emotional/behavioral disabilities to strengthen classroom management.
  • Collect data to determine the trends of behavior for the schools assigned and students receiving services.
  • Monitor and provide feedback on behavioral intervention/prevention strategies through data collection.
  • Communicate with specialists in other areas to provide comprehensive assistance to teachers and staff members.
  • Observes and reports on classroom management style of teachers and appropriateness of activities provided to ensure provision of a safe and emotionally supportive environment.
  • Responds to crisis situations in a safe and caring manner.
  • Gathers information/data to support periodic and special reports documenting activities for area of responsibility.
  • Performs routine administrative tasks as required, including but not limited to preparing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, sending and receiving faxes and emails, entering and retrieving computer data.
  • Attend staff meetings with school staff and share data from observation and collection.
  • Attend training, conferences and workshops as appropriate to enhance join knowledge and skills.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    Requires a High School diploma or equivalent, plus three (3) years of experience in a related field for a total education/experience of three (3) years. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)
