Memorial Rehabilitation Institute provides highly specialized care ranging from complex multiple trauma, stroke and brain injury to physical and speech therapy. Inpatient care is offered at Memorial Regional Hospital South, with outpatient care available in five different locations. We also have a home health team and resources for long-term care at Memorial Manor, while also offering therapy for pediatric developmental diagnosis through Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.

Summary:

Performs evaluations and develops a treatment plan using therapeutic recreational and leisure activities as modalities of treatment in individual sessions, small groups and large groups.


Memorial Regional Hospital South is seeking a Recreational Therapist with CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist).

Responsibilities:

Conducts assessment and establishes recreational therapy treatment goals and objectives to meet the individual needs of patients.

Coordinates therapeutic recreation activities for both large and small groups to observe patient response and encourage socialization.

Provides patient and patient's family with information regarding leisure life styles and creates an awareness of recreational resources in their community.

Evaluates each patient's progress and the effectiveness of the recreational therapy interventions.

Additional Job Information:

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: No prior work experience required.
