Overview

Under the direction of the TMH President and CEO, the Director of Hospitality provides leadership and oversight of the many aspects that contribute to a favorable patient and customer experience.  The Director coordinates and provides administrative oversight to environmental services, and food services.  The Director also provides strategic oversight to all of the TMH Auxiliary activities and functions including the volunteer program, Auxiliary Board, and the TMH Gift Shop.   As a member of the operation’s management team and guided by the values of Memorial Health System, the Director assists in deploying, evaluating and responding to the clinical, financial, human and business tactics required to achieve Taylorville Memorial Hospital’s and Taylorville Memorial Foundation’s strategic goals.  Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Courtesy, Quality, and Efficiency that support our mission, vision and values.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Four years healthcare management experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

  • State of Illinois Department of Public Health certificate in food service and sanitation preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in hospital management in areas of food service, environmental service or similar hospitality operations is required.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of business operations required.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, federal, state and local guidelines.
  • Must have outstanding human relations and communication skills as well as proven ability to work with a broad range of persons in diverse settings.
  • Ability to organize and execute events for the Hospital and Foundation, including large events and fundraisers

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for Patient Satisfaction results and initiatives regarding Food and Nutrition Services, Environmental Services, Laundry and volunteer services provided by Taylorville Memorial Hospital.
  •  

  • Responsible for all meeting, documenting, and demonstrating compliance with all pertinent governmental and accreditation requirements and guidelines.
  •  

  • Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services.
  •  

  • Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.
  •

  • Recommends space and other resources needed by the departments.

  • Develops and implements mechanisms designed to enable and encourage staff members to pursue relevant educational and developmental goals. Prepares and conducts performance appraisals for all managers within areas of responsibility.

  • Supports staff and encourages them to act with the appropriate authority over, and responsibility for, the work processes in which they are involved. Stimulates staff to continuously improve their performance, thereby improving the organization's performance.
  •  

  • Attends the Hospital's monthly departmental management meetings and conducts regular volunteer and department meetings for all shifts to relay pertinent information to staff.
  •  

  • Develops long and short-range department plans and programs consistent with departmental and organizational policies. (Including the preparation of the Annual Budget and Capital Expenditure requests.)
  •  

  • Manages and controls fiscal resources to assure the successful financial operation of the departments.
  •  

  • Maintains effective written and verbal communications and public relations, inter- and intradepartmental, including Administration.
  •  

  • Develops specifications for the procurement of equipment, food, technology and supplies.
  •  

  • Provide strategic vision and oversight to all Auxiliary activities and functions including the volunteer program, Auxiliary board, gift shop and Auxiliary activities. In partnership with the Auxiliary board, provides services that add value to TMH.
  •  

  • Recruit, train, and develop volunteers, ensuring proper numbers and skill levels to handle the daily workload.
  •  

  • Work with managers to provide value-added services to their departments through the deployment of volunteers.
  •  

  • Coordinate and oversee special events for the hospital and foundation.
  •  

  • Schedule appropriate personnel and volunteers to ensure proper numbers and skill levels to handle the daily workload.
  •  

  • Perform personnel related functions for staff and volunteers (as applicable) including but not limited to recruitment and selection, orientation and training, performance reviews, counseling, disciplining, and payroll.
  •  

  • Ensure that staff and volunteer members are practicing according to federal and state requirements.
  •  

  • Administers personnel policies, fairly and equitably as established by the department and organization.
  •  

  • Performs other related work as required or requested.
  •
