The Polysomnographic Technologist plays a crucial role in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders by conducting sleep studies and monitoring patients' physiological data during their sleep cycles. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited polysomnography program or equivalent training.
  • Graduate from a Polysomnography program, registry in good standing by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or a minimum of 6 months of experience as a Polysomnographic Technologist with documented proficiency in all required competencies.
  • Certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of sleep disorders and related treatment options.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a clinical setting performing polysomnographic studies.
  • Additional certifications in sleep medicine or related fields.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive polysomnographic studies on patients to assess sleep patterns and disorders.
  • Monitor and record physiological data, including brain waves, oxygen levels, heart rate, and breathing patterns during sleep.
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment used in sleep studies, ensuring all devices are functioning correctly.
  • Analyze sleep study data and generate detailed reports for physicians to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Educate patients on the sleep study process, addressing any concerns and ensuring their comfort throughout the procedure.
