The RN Wound Care HBO Tech in the Rehab Unit plays a critical role in delivering specialized wound care treatment using hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) to patients recovering from various conditions. This position focuses on promoting wound healing, preventing infection, and improving patient outcomes through meticulous assessment and application of HBO protocols. The role requires close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, and therapists to develop and implement individualized care plans. The technician will monitor patient responses to therapy, document progress, and adjust treatments as necessary to ensure safety and efficacy. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to enhancing the quality of life for patients undergoing rehabilitation by facilitating advanced wound healing techniques within a supportive clinical environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
  • Certification or documented training in hyperbaric oxygen therapy techniques and safety.
  • Experience in wound care management, preferably within a rehabilitation or acute care setting.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Wound Care (such as CWCN, WCC, or equivalent).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Experience working specifically in a rehabilitation unit or with complex wound cases.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems used in wound care documentation.
  • Additional training or certification in hyperbaric medicine (e.g., Certified Hyperbaric Technologist).

Responsibilities:

  • Administer hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments to patients with chronic or non-healing wounds under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
  • Perform comprehensive wound assessments, including measuring wound size, depth, and appearance, and document findings accurately in patient records.
  • Monitor patients during HBO sessions for any adverse reactions or complications, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary rehab team to develop and update individualized wound care plans based on patient progress and clinical guidelines.
  • Maintain and sterilize HBO equipment and wound care supplies to ensure a safe and hygienic treatment environment.
